Ahhhh the Ocean!
After the Rendezvous Kurt Smith invited me to come to the Outer Banks in NC and surf for a couple days before my big drive back west. I was psyched to jump on board since I’ve heard a lot about the sand bars out there!
I showed up late in the afternoon to Nags Head where Kurt was beaming with his grin ear to ear. Kurt surfing is just about as happy as you’ll ever see anyone about pretty much anything. Just perpetually psyched and ready to charge in ANY condition! We went to Mama Kwans Tiki Lounge for some killer fish tacos, crab cakes and margarita’s. I ordered the “Loco Louie” only cuz I wanted the glass!

After the phenomenal dinner and an adequate amount of libations it was off to meet the Friks’n boys for an intense game of putt-putt!

The next morning had us at perfect temps and great surfing. We were PSYCHED! After 8 hours in the water we said our goodbyes and headed down south to Rodanthe to the rental house. That evening was filled with delusions of grandeur for the next week.Then the storm hit which put us out for the next 4 days! Ugggh. So to fill our time we made a LOT of amazing food (expect less? I think NOT!), playing board games like apples to apples & cranium and watching the kite surfers in the sound. Quick note about board games and middle aged adults and alcohol…that s#@% can get heated FAST!

I couldn’t hang anymore and decided that Wednesday was the departure date. But of course the weather and surf report was calling for nothing short of Valhalla on Thursday. And they were right! Gorgeous! Unfortunately the waves were on a different page with 4-6ft closeouts. But it was a great day and just what I needed =)
Now I’m in Kansas MO with Jeremy going over all these new rock shoe colorways and what we are going to do at the trade show. Gotta step it up!!
