Gimps on Rock
“You better bring lots of tape.”
“And don’t forget your Carharts.”
“If it’s not windy there will be tons of mosquitoes.”
“It might be windy and snowing.”
This was the type of advice we were getting as we planned and packed up for Vedauwoo for our second annual Gimps on Rock event for Paradox Sports. Known, and feared, as the offwidth capital of the world, Vedauwoo is perched on the highest point...

Check out evolv and Paradox Sports athlete Ronnie Dickson sending the South East way! Ronnie is one of our athletes and has an above knee amputation. Watch the film he and his friend Jordan Shipman filmed and produced (and partially sponsored by evolv) to find out more. Pretty cool stuff!

So… It’s been a while since I updated the blog! My apologies… But better late than never in my opinion.
Since my last post, lots has happened! The Outdoor Retailer Trade Show (I think I remember some of it), a few days in Vedauwoo (the outcomes of this trip were scars from shoving ourselves in stupidly wide cracks, mice that thought they owned Eva, and a two inch laceration on...

Adaptive Climbing... And evolv!
To make a long story short I decided to have my leg cut off 5 years ago right after my high school graduation. I had always been an adventurous and athletic but after years of pain and problems due to a congenital deformity I decided I had had enough. Soccer was my passion before my amputation, but I was dismayed by the fact that amputee soccer was played on crutches. I left soccer in my past as a...

Hello Blogosphere!
Here’s an update about some awesome work evolv athlete (and professional Snowboarder) Lonnie Kauk has been doing when he’s not killing it on the slopes or dispatching projects at the crags.
You’re a phenomenal athlete and a total inspiration Lonnie!!

Bent Gate Night with Nick Duttle
Every third Wednesday of the month, Bent Gate in Golden putts on a “Community Night”.
It is a lot of fun because Bent Gate does a great job at bringing in interesting folks within the climbing community to talk about various topics.
This last Wednesday’s “Community Night” had Evolv team member, Nick Duttle giving a great slide show and informational segment on...
17th Wyoming International Climbers Festival
Hey all, this is EZ, the Rocky Mountain sales rep and I just got home from my rounds around Wyoming and my first WICF event.
Wyoming is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. I made my way up to Jackson Hole to say hello to our retailers and climbing gyms on my way to Lander. One of our retailers, Teton Mountaineering, http://www.tetonmountaineering.com/, is situated dead...
My first official blog post!
So the last few weeks have been a roller coaster; I started my first year round job, met a bazillion new and fantastic people, been introduced into the SoCal lifestyle, climbed at a bunch of places, and have been living out of the most sick-nasty van EVER!
As earlier posts have said, I (Mason) have taken over Buck’s place on the road, needless to say I have some huge shoes to fill, so go...
Mason "All that is MAN" Daly
The past 2 weeks have been so all over the place! Ryan “Ponch” Estrada is on tour right now with his band Phinehas and in lieu of that we had to get a replacement for him at evolv.
Here’s Ryan slaying the bass for Phinehas!
Welcome Brian Cunningham! Great kid who jumped in with both feet and has been keeping the online ordering and re-soles running like a well oiled machine...

Ahhhh the Ocean!
After the Rendezvous Kurt Smith invited me to come to the Outer Banks in NC and surf for a couple days before my big drive back west. I was psyched to jump on board since I’ve heard a lot about the sand bars out there!
I showed up late in the afternoon to Nags Head where Kurt was beaming with his grin ear to ear. Kurt surfing is just about as happy as you’ll ever see anyone...
New River Rendezvous Re-cap
Once again the New River Rendezvous was absolutely amazing! I flew back from some quality time with the family in San Diego to Philly where I drove most the night to some crazy (finding out they all are) trucker stop somewhere in West Virginia then punched it in the morning to Fayetteville. I hadn’t checked the weather report but not unlike character it was raining when I showed up. After...

Kris 'Odub' Hampton in the Red
So Odub has been killing it for a while now but in this last season of unusually dry spring conditions he’s really been lightin’ it UP! On my way across country i stopped in Cincinnati and he took me to the famous Mother Lode in the Red River Gorge. Casually warming up on a 5.12a we commented on the crisp temps out. “I’m psyched to check out a project today” Kris said...
a little good hearted banter between Adam, Victoria and i after the VW demo. Also i finally (!) figured out why the color would go crazy on my G11 so this will be the last time i unintentionally have the color scheme funky.
There wasn’t as many people as we were expecting but there were still a GRIP of people trying on the shoes a the Vertical World demo last night! haha this really isn’t the most engaging video but it’s what i do =)
Tyson Schoene doing a little setting at Vertical World before jumping a flight to Salt Lake for some Limestone pulling =)
A little more about Origins
Now that the first installment of Origins has finally been released and I thought it’d be cool to give some more into the idea behind the concept.
Growing up in SoCal I have always been excited about the rich history that surrounded me every time I climbed anywhere from Rubidoux to Joshua Tree to Mt. Woodson to the Temecula Domes. So many great climbers learned and put up test pieces all...
A quick stop in Portland...
And off to this full week in Seattle!! Spent the last 4 days in the Portland area visiting some cool accounts (have you BEEN to Next Adventure?!), having a killer demo at the Portland Rock Gym and spending time with old friends.
Portland’s interesting in that it reminds me of a very large town, not a city. Everyone was super friendly and the scene is really upbeat despite the rain.
After...

A family weekend with the Wernick's
After the bay demos I headed down to Los Gatos for a great weekend of cooking and climbing. Whenever we get together we buy way too much food and cook for way too many friends, both problems that I don’t see a problem with ;)
Our menu for the last 3 days was BBQ baby back pork ribs, German potato salad, six cheese double baked Macaroni, Hot and sour soup with Shrimp wontons, golden...
Bay Area Demos part two
What a great turn out for the last two evolv demos at Berkeley Ironworks and Mission Cliffs! Our good friends Grant and Forrest Wernick came to assist me and Brett “Honky” Ashton. And good thing cuz I would’ve been SWAMPED without them (was busy enough with them)!
After the demo we had a great Pizza party with the Skimble crew. Check out their site and download their app...
Bay area demos pt 1
My first stop on my cross country tour is the Bay area for a few demos and stopping in at some of our retail locations. The GWPC in Oakland was a great demo on Tuesday and my old homies Ben Polanco (aka the Flea) and Jeff Kosoff were there to give me a hand.
After the demo Julie, Ben and I kicked it in the van and watched Swingers and had some fun random late night conversations =)

June-uary 2010: What was supposed to be one of the coldest months of the year, was unseasonably warm in Bishop. The snow melted from the granite eggs of the Buttermilks. I worked on my tan at the volcanic tablelands. I fell in love.

Amputees and evolv
Just got a really solid update from evolv athlete Ronnie Dickson and he has been tearing it up lately!
Not many people know this but evolv is the only rock shoe company in the world that has developed a rock climbing shoe, the Eldo Z, that is built around a foot (made by T.R.S.) specifically for amputees.

Heroes...we've all got 'em
Just stumbled across this website http://growingupheroes.com/ and other than it being awesomely funny it brought me back to when I looked up to my heroes. <———-Not me by the way

Origins and a Merry Christmas!
Last week we met up in Joshua Tree with Kurt Smith and Chris Lindner to see if after 21 years Chris could bag the 2nd known ascent of Kurt’s route on Cap Rock, The Dunce Cap. When Kurt put it up in 1988 he gave it 5.13a/b. Pretty bad-ass for the times and for being in JTree! There are quite a few hard routes that were put up “back in the day” by Kurt and the fellow JTree old...
Thanksgiving recap
So the annual “Buck cooks for everyone that shows up at Tom’s house in Bishop” was on again for the 3rd year in a row! It was an absolute blast this year. The past 2 years have been hit or miss with who has been able to show up whether it was cuz of sickness or travel problems or what have you. But this year we had about 16 at dinner and then the Vegas crew rolled in for a late...
Project Mexico and evolv
A few months ago our friend Geoff Bray contacted me to see if evolv could donate any new, old or used climbing shoes to the outreach program he works with , Project Mexico. After talking with him for just a few minutes and hearing about the kick-ass woody he built them I knew that something as small as a donation of a few pair of shoes would be a gesture that went a LONG way with these boys!...

And let’s not forget the woman who won the “most...
the first post!
after living out of my truck for 2 years chasing waves or rocks and sleeping on the same crashpad that i’d be using the next morning i never thought that i would be a “weekend warrior” but low and behold here i am psyched that it’s Friday! haha there is this massive misconception that working for a rock climbing shoe company will allow you to rock climb 24/7 but the...
